Are AVP licensed & qualified to operate commercially?

Yes. AVP has been granted “Permissions For Aerial Work" by the CAA. All our pilots have the BNUC-S Qualification for flying unmanned aerial vehicles day or night.

What weather conditions can't you fly in?

Unfortunately, we cannot fly in any kind of precipitation no matter how light. Strong winds can also be a problem, more so if we are required to fly in close proximity to other objects. We can however fly in winds of up to 10mps (22mph).

How many people are required to operate the equipment?

Our rigs can be flown with either a 1 or 2 man crew. However we generally fly a 2 man crew due to the added safety this brings. A qualified UAV pilot to fly the the UAV and a secondary camera operator who controls the camera.

What is the height, range and speed of the UAV?

Due to the conditions placed on UAV’s by the CAA, we are only permitted to fly to a maximum hight of 121m (above ground level) and 500m horizontally. This potentially giving us a 1km radius to work in. We must also maintain unaided visual contact at all times. (so no flying around hills or behind buildings. Our fastest UAV tops out at 80mph.

Are AVP fully insured?

Yes. AVP are fully insured by Cover Drone, a specialist Drone insurance Company. We carry £2 million public liability cover.

Can you fly indoors?

Yes we can though naturally we do require a fairly spacious area to operate in. When we operate indoors we are not subject to the same regulations placed upon us by the CAA, however additional insurance may be required.

How long can you fly for?

Our aerial systems can operate for around 18-28 minutes in a single flight. We have multiple batteries as well as the means to recharge on the go, meaning we should never run out of charge.

How much will it cost?

We price all jobs on an individual basis. Factors including the location, amount of crew required, how much pre-deployment work is involved and of course the length of time required to carry out your task are all factored in to give you the best possible price.

Can you operate anywhere, any time?

Sadly no. Following an initial conversation AVP carry out a pre-deployment Assessment to ascertain the feasibility of a location. This involves, amongst other things identifying hazards and determining the airspace classification so as the relevant Air Traffic Control can be notified (if required). Don't panic, we do all this on your behalf. We are also not permitted to fly over groups of more than 1000 people.
